Of Things That Need Reminding

Things that I need to remind myself:

  1. Break out of your comfort zone. Try not to do stuff you are used to doing. Try something different, be it a new technique or a new subject matter
  2. Keep drawing even if you think it looks bad
  3. If you are feeling unmotivated on a certain piece, take a break, work on something else then come back
  4. If your hand starts to hurt, stop and let it rest. Creating is definitely fun but don't hurt yourself or you might not be able to create anymore.
  5. Look for inspiration in everything. There is beauty everywhere
  6. Take pictures. Use them in your art. Use them as your inspiration. (No only will you get better at taking pictures, you will have references to help you with your art)
  7. Don't let others get you down
  8. Although getting critiqued is scary, it will help you in the long run (as long as it's constructive critique)
  9. The key to becoming better at things is practice. Want to become a better writer? Practice writing and read others works. Want to become a better artist? Practice and observe others.
  10. Don't compare yourself to other artists and  let yourself feel bad. The amazing artwork that you see took a lot of practice and time to do. They "arted" until they could art no more (for that day anyway.) Just because you think you aren't as good as them, does not mean you aren't good in your own way or that you will get better one day.
  11. Sketch a lot. People, places, things, ideas, whatever. Just do it.
  12. Focus on improving. Be happy that you have created something and look for ways to do it better next time.
  13. Every step is a step forward
  14. Whatever you do, don't give up. Keep going. Don't get discouraged
